Planning to hike Mt. Fuji this year? Starting July 1, 2025, all climbers will be required to pay a ¥4,000 (approx. $28) entry fee to access any of the four official trails—Yoshida, Subashiri, Gotemba, and Fujinomiya.
The updated policy is part of Japan’s effort to manage overcrowding, reduce overnight “bullet climbs”, and preserve the environment on one of its most iconic peaks.
🗓️ Climbing season: July to early September
⛔ Gate closures: Trails closed from 2PM to 3AM daily
📲 Online reservations are now mandatory
This is the first time the same fee applies to all routes, and it replaces the previous optional donation of ¥1,000–¥2,000.
Book your Mt. Fuji tour early, follow official safety guidelines, and make the most of your climb—a once-in-a-lifetime adventure now comes with better safety and structure.
