Experience Overview
The Anime Studio Experience with Japan Awaits is a 3-hour experience combining a visit to the Suginami Animation Museum, an introduction to a local Anime School and Studio in Tokyo, and a hands-on anime drawing workshop.
Guests will learn about the history and production of Japanese animation before practicing basic anime and manga character-drawing techniques with an experienced instructor.

Itinerary
The experience follows the same 3-hour itinerary from Tuesday to Friday. Tuesday tours use a later schedule, as shown in the Availability section below.
1. Discover Anime History at the Suginami Animation Museum
Begin your journey in Suginami, an area known for its strong connection to Tokyo’s animation industry.
Explore exhibits introducing the history of Japanese animation and the steps involved in bringing anime to life. Learn more about the creative and production processes behind Japanese animation through the museum’s available displays and interactive features.
Transfer to the Anime School and Studio: Travel with your guide from the Suginami Animation Museum to the Anime School and Studio. This transfer is included in the experience.
2. Visit an Anime School and Studio
Visit a local Anime School and Studio and learn about its creative environment and the different roles involved in anime and manga production.
Access to specific classrooms, work areas, staff members, or production materials may vary depending on operations on the day.
3. Hands-On Anime Drawing Workshop
Take part in a drawing workshop arranged exclusively for your group.
Guided by an experienced instructor, learn the fundamentals of character design and anime-style drawing. Practice basic techniques such as facial proportions, expressions, and character features.
No previous drawing experience is required, and standard drawing materials are provided.

Tuesday schedule: Tuesday tours begin 1.5 hours later because the Anime School drawing class starts at 1:30 PM on Tuesdays.
Advance booking required: This tour must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance to allow enough time to confirm the anime school/studio arrangements. Last-minute requests are not available.
Please arrive at the designated meeting point at least 10 minutes before your scheduled tour start time. Final meeting instructions will be provided before the activity date.

Age Requirement
The minimum age for participation is 8 years old. Adult pricing applies to all guests aged 8 and above.
Guests aged 8–17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18 or older. The accompanying adult must also be included in the booking.
Drawing Experience
No previous drawing experience is required. The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as guests who already enjoy drawing.
The exact lesson content may vary depending on the instructor and the participants’ experience levels.
Anime School and Studio Access
Access to specific classrooms, production areas, staff members, or production materials may vary depending on operations on the day. Access to active commercial productions or confidential materials is not guaranteed.

Payment
All bookings are payable via Stripe (Booking Checkout) or Flywire. Confirmations regarding your booking will be sent at least 10 days before your activity date.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need previous drawing experience?
Not at all. No previous drawing experience is required, and the workshop is designed to be enjoyable for complete beginners as well as guests who already have an interest in drawing.
What if I’m late?
Although this is a private tour, the guide can wait for up to 30 minutes after the scheduled start time. Please contact your guide immediately if you expect to be late. If you have not arrived within 30 minutes, the booking will be treated as a no-show and the tour will not proceed.
